How to Set Flash Stage Size and Frame Rate

A project's frame rate and stage size are set when you start a project. This is also a good time to set the Flash Player version.

Step One

Choose Modify > Document (Cmd/j (PC-Ctrl/j)) to open the Document Properties.

Step Two

Dimensions (Height and Width) sets the stage size. For web projects, set Ruler units to pixels.

Step Three

Enter a value for the frame rate.

What's the Perfect Frame Rate?

Frame rates vary based on the project. Higher frame rates can increase the file size and strain the processors. It needs to be fast enough to tell the story but not so high that it brings the processor to its knees. Frame rates generally run between 12 and 30 fps.
