Repairing With the Healing Brush
Photoshop CS3 Tutorial
How to Repair Photoshop Images with the Healing Brush
The Healing Brush is one of Photoshop's image repairing tools. To use the tool, you must first define a source area for the brush.
Once defined, it now works like a paint brush using the source area to make the repair.
Open an image in Photoshop (File > Open) and select the Healing Brush tool (j key)
To define the source area, Opt (PC-Alt) click once.
Move your brush to the repair area and begin painting. For best results, paint small areas, then let the program catch-up.
To change the brush size or edge softness, open the Brush Presets. The brush size can also be adjusted by repeatedly pressing the bracket keys ([ or ]).
You can access the Healing Brush tool by pressing the j key. By holding down the Shift key and pressing j multiple times, you can cycle through the various tools in the Healing Brush set.
Changing the Target Area
To change the source target area, Opt (PC- Alt) click a new area and resume painting.
